Helping the people of Port Douglas connect, develop, and grow

Build friendships, learn new skills, keep fit, or share a meal or a laugh

Our Community Connection program is designed to bring people from all walks of life together and foster a sense of community. We do this through a large variety of classes, events, activities, and services.

What sort of things are on offer?

Cooking Demonstrations

Our Fortnightly Foodies session provides the opportunity for you to learn new recipes by watching a cooking demonstration and enjoy a meal together afterwards. Many of our participants join these sessions to meet new people.

Community Garden

The Community Garden allows people to come and learn gardening skills whilst helping maintain our beautiful garden that produces food to be used in our cooking demonstrations, Men’s Breakfast and for distribution to our Community.

Keep your body fit

With a number of different classes or activities such as Tai Chi, yoga, table tennis, badminton, volley ball, and pickleball, we love bringing people together to be active while making new friends.

Keep your mind fit

A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body so activities such as mindfulness, meditation, arts and crafts, book clubs, and more are a great way to get your mind active and meet people at the same time.

Social Events

Our social events such as our monthly Seniors Adventures and affordable Cairns bus trips are a great way to bring people together to share a laugh, and create connections within our community.

Annual Fundraising Events

Our annual events are the International Women’s Day Luncheon and the Nic Nak Shed Fashion Parade which are now staples on the Port Douglas social circuit. The events bring the community together and help us to raise much needed funds every year. We couldn’t do it without the amazing support from the Port Douglas community.

One off Events

We also run one off events throughout the year such as open days, volunteer appreciation BBQs, Members and Supporters lunches, and more. These events encourage connection and community participation.
