In the Spirit of reconciliation, PDCSN acknowledge the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of this nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which our service is located and where we deliver care for the community. We pay respect to Ancestors and Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People play within our community.

Port Douglas Community Service Network is committed to honouring Australian Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander peoples unique cultural and spiritual relationships to land, waters, seas and their rich contribution to society.

Our Seniors Adventures Program funded by the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety got off to a great start with a trip to Mossman Gorge and a trip to the Herberton Historic Village. This program is for adventurous seniors over 60. We will be running a variety of trips to suit those with varying mobility. Trips usually include bus, admission fees and lunch for $10 and book up quickly. Please contact the Centre to get on our mailing list to hear about future trips.
The Question was asked of the local community, Are you ready for the wet season?
A sold-out information morning was held at the centre on Monday December 9th where locals enjoyed morning tea and were able to hands on pack their own Cyclone Emergency kit. Bags & a selection of essential items were provided by the PDCSN to help build a cyclone kit. It was a great way for those that attended to connect with neighbours & friends and enjoy great company along with a delicious morning tea.
Every year staff and volunteers make Christmas hampers for families and singles in our area that could do with a little Christmas cheer. Hampers are made possible through donations from businesses & individuals in our community. Thanks to the generosity of Rodgers Rides, Zanders Beach Café, the Page Turners Book Club, Petanque Club, Ray White & Ramada. If you can spare some time to help with the hampers this year, give the centre a call. Promise we will have lights and air conditioning this year.
Billy asked his mum if he could spend his Christmas money on buying presents for others and donated to our Christmas Hampers Thank You
PDNC staff Emma, Chrissy, Coleen, Tracey, Tanya and Erin wore orange to work on Monday November 25th in recognition of 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Our beautiful new website is now up and running thanks to the People of Post grant from Australia Post. A big thank you to Port Douglas Web Designs for their patience in building us a new site and actioning all the changes. The 2024 Staff and Volunteer Christmas Party was a raging success and was attended by around 60 revellers who enjoyed a great spread, great drink prices and great service by Angela and her staff at the Little Larder. Thanks to the hard work of Belinda & Tracy who set up and decorated the venue as well as organising gifts and games for all. Live entertainment was provided by local ladies Jill, Mereana & Jen. Party goers danced the night away. (Well at least till 9pm) Once again it was a great opportunity to remind volunteers how much they are appreciated and how the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre simply would not be able to do what it does for our community without their help and dedication. Thank you all so much
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the team
An amazing morning funded by Volunteering Queensland, the Volunteer Extravaganza was held at Port Village Shopping Centre to highlight the many wonderful volunteering opportunities available in Douglas Shire. The morning was so well attended by locals and brought a real buzz to the town centre bringing everyone together in our wonderful community. Families loved the petting zoo, face painting and badge making whilst others enjoyed food & drink and learning more about volunteering opportunities.
Every dollar donated goes toward keeping our programs, activities, and events alive.
